Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler studied at music schools in Poland, on piano since she was 8, and organ since the age of 16. Her passion for music, and organ music especially, took her to various places
in Poland, Europe and two Americas. She received her formal training in two conservatoria: Master of Music diploma from Conservatorium van Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she studied with Jacques van Oortmerssen; and Master of Arts diploma (summa cum laude) from Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland, where she studied with Irena Wisełka-Cieślar. Ilona also obtained professional diplomas in chamber music and music education. During the years 2004-2008, she worked as a teacher in the Organ, Harpsichord and Early Music department at the Academy of Music in Łódź. In May 2012 she graduated with a DMA degree in organ performance with Kimberly Marshall from Arizona State University.
Ilona won first prize in the French music interpretation competition in Warsaw, Poland, and was a finalist in the 11th Organ Competition in Leiden, Holland. She received a scholarship from the Royal College of Organists in 2006 while studying in Cambridge, UK.
Her deep interest in organ music took her to various European countries to study interpretation and improvisation with organists Olivier Latry, Guy Bovet, Ludger Lohmann, Gerhard Gnann, John Scott, Susan Landale, Julian Gembalski, Marek Toporowski, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Peter Planyavsky, Vincent Warnier, Krzysztof Ostrowski, Wolfgang Seifen, Istvan Ella, and Martin Sander.
Ilona began her performing career as a young student, performing as a soloist and chamber musician with orchestras in Poland and abroad. She has played at festivals in the Oude Kerk (Amsterdam), Sint Laurenskerk (Alkmaar), Nieuwe Kerk (Amsterdam), and festivals in Poland: “Music in the Old Monastery” (Łódź), “Closer to Bach” (Gdańsk), “Musical Evenings” and “Musica Moderna” (Academy of Music, Łódź).
Currently residing in Phoenix, Ilona works as a Teaching Assistant in organ performance at ASU. She also holds the position of Music Director of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Ilona performs original music with Jacob Adler in their duo Zeelab, and in the quartet Integers Are For Counting. Her additional interests are yoga, Alexander's Technique, Karnatic Music and integrations of music and other media.
