"i wrote the first act of an opera in the wee hours of the night while feeding newborn baby yuyek, a loving tribute to the great composer Robert Ashley. it will be performed at the kerr center on jan 27, 10:30am. the piece features an amazing ensemble of 4 voices: Elyp Ylloh, Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler, Joshua Hill, and richard wall; an orchestral trio: Eric Retterer (percussion), Anthony Obr (electronics), and me (piano); and sound design by Josh Bennett. the incandescent textures of Tsone lay the foundation for much of the music. together we weave a mythic allegory, a rumination on life, death and real estate."
